Vivacity 20

Soundwave is a 20 foot, 4 berth, bilge keel cruising yacht, designed by D C Pollard and built by Russell Marine circa 1968. She has been in the current ownership for about 5 years, during which time extensive improvements and renovations have been done. The boat is fully equipped and ready to use.

 

Description

The Vivacity 20 is a relatively beamy and stable yacht ideal for coastal and estuary sailing and for taking advantage of cheaper, drying moorings.

 

Soundwave is in sound condition with original gelcoat above water and antifoul paint below.

The sails are elderly but useable, with some repairs. The suite of sails includes boom roller reefing main, roller reefing genoa and two further sails left over from when the boat had hanked on foresails .

 

Interior

The interior of the boat needed extensive renovation. The old headlining had deteriorated badly. It was removed and the surface prepared and painted using International marine paint. The cushions were replaced and reupholstered. The interior woodwork was either renovated or replaced depending on its condition.  New windows, window seals and curtains were fitted. The wiring was replaced and a new switch panel fitted

 

Equipment

Cobra DSC radio (not connected to GPS source), Duet depth/speed, bulkhead mounted compass, anchor chain and warp plus 3 more anchors,  mooring lines, fenders, horseshoe buoy, nearly new battery, manual bilge pump, electric bilge pump, fire extinguisher, slide mounted outboard bracket, spray hood, transom hung rudder and tiller, boarding ladder, boom reefing handle, sail covers, sail ties.

 

Outboard Motor

Mercury 4hp Sail Power long shaft two stroke with integral fuel tank and battery charging. The motor is in excellent condition, fully serviced and starts easily.

 

Trailer

The trailer is stored on a nearby farm. It has not been used by the current owner. The basic structure appears to be sound but wheels, bearings etc. would probably need replacing to make it roadworthy. This would be a realistic project to enhance the total value of the outfit.
